Write It, Keep it

Last week, I bumped into one of my oldest memories on Facebook and I was shocked at what I wrote back then. Obviously, I was not mature in the social media space.

I have a question for you. Where do you run to when mentally drained? What steps do you take when you are lost? What things do you do? Pause and think of an answer. My bouncing back techniques are numerous but one profound one that remains ageless and powerful is looking into my Journals.

Journaling is so important. How can you remember things from 10 years ago, if you don't pen them down? How do you track your goals if you don't have a Journal? Even social media apps keep memories. That's why you can get throwback memories on Facebook, Snapchat, and others.

Even the bible says … “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it”(Habakkuk 2:2NKJV).

When I say pen it, I don't mean with physical journals only. Though I love to be traditional, I have a book of documentation of spiritual, and intellectual conversations. Our phones, laptops, and iPad can be used for journaling. As long as we can easily access our journals, you can also save them on the cloud.

As I said earlier, journaling is a tool for restoration. Each year I have dreams, aspirations, and goals. Prophecies, word of knowledge and wisdom are penned down in my book. Each time I go back to my book, I get comfort because I get proof of progress and it keeps me going.

If you have not started journaling, it is not too late to start. Start now. Not tomorrow. Not next month. In summary, you should start journaling because:

  • Journaling is an accountability tool for measuring progress
  • It can be a source of inspiration when you are down
  • It also helps to build your memories and strengthen your faith
