Do You Feast in the Morning?
What do you think about waking up on a beautiful day to a bowl full of hot spaghetti and chicken sauce? Don’t you think it will be a good idea to allow your mouth taste of its goodness while it's hot? I bet you do agree. Supposing you go out after enjoying that delicious meal, only to return at night to discover that that was the only meal in the house, how will you react? You'd probably want to chicken out. Alas, eating the sumptuous pasta was not a good idea in the first place.
Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child, And your princes feast in the morning!
Ecclesiastes 10: 16 (NKJV)
The morning of your life is your prime; It is the season of strength, opportunities and discoveries. It is a season when you should plan your life deliberately so that your evening can be as relaxing as a newborn sleeping serenely in her crib
If you earn half a million naira in a month, what form does your budget take? Do you match your expenses with your income? Do you squander all that you have because needs always arise? Do you have a saving /investment culture? What if you are not into paid employment but you own your own business? In the mornings of contract and project boom, how do you fare? Do you engage in cost consuming activities and expense driven lifestyle?
Feasting in the morning without considering the evening is a dangerous thing to do. Supposing you lose that job, can you survive a whole year without work? What if business fails or you make a huge loss, do you have what it takes to weather the storm?
As long as the world exists, there will be a time for planting and a time for harvest. There will always be cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night. (Genesis 8:22, GNB).
The world also recognizes the different economic cycles of expansion, peak, recession and trough. The earth undergoes cyclical changes, so you have to be prepared in all seasons.
There is a proper time to feast; to merry, to flex. As a young lady, do not be carried away by the flashy clothes, bags and accessories of your friends. As a young man, do not be in a hurry to join the bandwagon to make wealth illicitly. You will feast at the appropriate time when you have considered the right perspectives, when you have put all things in place. Plant when you should so you can have a harvest when it is time.
About that sumptuous meal and exotic wine, will you love to have it this evening? Work for it.
